Tabernas desert

It is the only desert in Europe, where annual rainfall reaches levels as low as 156 mm in coastal areas. It  is located in the interior, about 30 kilometers north of the provincial capital, Almería, in Tabernas town. The Tabernas Desert is situated between the Sierra de los Filabres to the north and the Sierra de Alhamilla to the south-southeast.
The Desert of Tabernas is still used today for the shooting of many films and westerns, above all, the genre known as Spaguetti Westerns like A FIST FULL OF DOLLARS (1964), FOR A FEW DOLLARSMORE (1965)  and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY (1966).
But also other famous films such as King of Kings (1960), Cleopatra (1963), and the winner of seven Oscars, Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
The film studios of Tabernas have grown into the wild west tourist attraction know as Mini Hollywood; Oasys Park, Fort Bravo and Western Leone. They can be visited by tourists and they offer wild west performances.

Recently, it has also been filmed movies such as EXODUS GODS AND KINGS and CLAVIUS, now it is know as RISEN.

Oasys Park also has a reserve of African animals and a pool to cool off from heat.
