The old railway station began its construction in 1890 and it was completed in 1893, but it would not come into use until the inauguration of the section Almeria-Guadix in July the 23rd,1895. It is an example of the architecture of iron and glass. The initial objective of the line was to transport minerals from Sierra Morena to Almeria port, but later was also used to transport people and other goods. This is a symbol of modernity in the late nineteenth.
